Beads4youchallenge

Beads4youchallenge, originally uploaded by Pinky's Inspiration.

I have to go to sleep! My eyes are going in different directions. In addition to Halloween, this necklace is what I have been doing all day. It's a part of a beading challenge that will be judged by www.craftrevolution.com, which is really cool. I made everything on this sucker!! WOO! I'm super happy with the way it turned out and I couldn't be happier with my photo of it. Looks fancy, huh?

Okay, I'll see all of you tomorrow. Hugs n Luv

The Weekend

Hello everyone! I have had a busy few days! Friday, baby girl had a Halloween party at school and I went to help. Lord love teachers! I don't know how they do it all the time. We had crafts and a big party. It was a TON of fun!! I think I got hugged a hundred times! After I picked her up from school, we played outside. It was really, really windy, so we got out the giant dragon kite. Sadly, it was too windy to really fly it so we just blew up a beach ball instead and let the wind kick it around the yard while we chased it. Too fun!

I dropped baby girl off with my mom in law and hubby and I headed to Jackson, Mississippi. We got there pretty late so we snagged a room and some food. We stayed at the Hilton and were pampered by the big room and smushy bed. We gorged ourselves on Krystal burgers. I know, real fancy, huh? But we don't have one here anymore and we both adore Krystal's, so it was a treat for us.

Saturday we got up, checked out and headed out for adventures. I told hubby I wanted to take some pictures around Jackson. I saw this one the night before so we went back in the daytime so I could get it.

It's on a sloped street, don't think I was drunk taking the picture. Then I saw this place and just had to have pictures of it. There was just something cool and strange about it.

When I was taking pics of that, I notice the Magnolia Towers. You could see that at some point, it was a really swank place to live. With it's crazy Art Deco blue and sleek design. The lettering was just so pretty I had to get a pic of it. It feels a little sad now because you can see the age and neglect hanging on it. Still, I can imagine what a place it used to be.

After we left here, we headed to the Belhaven Market. It's a cool little neighborhood place that has a craft fair every Saturday. There is a girl from Etsy that sells her stuff there and I was really hoping to see her. We just missed her, but I did get to see some old friends and buy two new pendants from them. Click on Vindauga Gallery in my links and you can see some of the awesome stuff they create. Wonderful people and it was a joy to see them again.

We ate lunch at a place called the Cherokee Inn. Man, it was kinda strange and dirty looking. It was octagonal in shape, but OMG at the food. They had the BEST fried mushrooms and onion rings that I have ever tasted. Big hamburgers with thick bacon slices, oh it was divine. We were a little stuffed after that, but we headed back downtown so I could take a few more shots.
This is my favorite:

Mirror Images

I've uploaded the rest to my Flickr account so you can see all of them. There is a few really cool ones of a church and the building you see reflected. It has gargoyles on it and that's just cool. It was starting to get late so we headed back towards home.

But FIRST! I got to stop at the GIANT Hobby Lobby and look at all the beads and stuff. WOO! We got back on the road and pulled over so I could take this shot:

One World, One Time

It's foggy because there was lint on my camera lense and I blew on it. It was getting cool outside, so it stayed foggy. The picture is part of a worldwide project called One World, One Time. We are designated a specigic GMT time frame, adjust it to our time zones, and all around the world, we stop and take a picture at that same time. VERY cool. So this is the shot I got.

Sunday was a lazy day. We didn't do much and that was just fine with all of us. Well, I better scoot. I have to go to the hospital to do pre-admissions paperwork and have the vampires take my blood. Then, I have a teacher conference this afternoon. OH! and baby girl doesn't have school today, so she will be in tow. Busy, busy!!

OH! Speaking of Vampires, all you Nora Robert's fans, don't forget that the final book in the Circle Trilogy comes out tomorrow!! WOOO!! I'm super excited!!! Okay, I really have to go now. Hugs and love!! ~Pinky!

See Ya!!

Well folks, we're heading out. A little late, but we're leaving nonetheless. I hope that you all have a good weekend and I will talk to you all on Sunday! OH, I'm getting to go ice skating! You cannot know how much joy that brings to my heart. I'm going to take my camera, so I will be able to post pictures for everyone when we get back. Mysti, link away!! I've already added you!

Hugs and love ~Pinky!

It's Raining

On the weather channel, there is a big yellow blob in the middle of Mississippi. Yeah, that's where I live. Bleh. I hate trying to get baby girl to school when it's raining like this. But we're scheduled for morning thunderstorms so I better dig out my umbrella and rain shoes!

10.26.2006

Hi, HI!!

I am SO sorry that I haven't posted today. Blogger hasn't let me do anything!! Half the day it was telling me that I wasn't even authorized to view my own blog! The nerve of Blogger and IE. I uploaded the Halloween pictures to my Flickr account since I didn't think Blogger would accommodate me. Check it out here: FLICKR!! I have a few more that I can add but the ones I posted give you the best idea.

It's been another busy day here and I wanted to post something for Poetry Thursday, but I think I'm going to have to fudge and do it tomorrow. I haven't gotten to go by many blogs today because of my computer. I'm not neglecting you all, I just am having technical difficulties. Pavel, the error is not between the keyboard and the chair!!! Stop it, it really isn't. giggle.

OH! Baby girl lost her first tooth today!!! WOO! I just knew it was going to come out today and it did! She is sooooo excited! She lost it at school and they put it on this cool card that listed the day, her name and her class. I can keep that in a book because, honestly, I don't want to keep the tooth. It grosses me out a little.

I may be taking an impromptu trip with my hubby this weekend. We have a lot of things to deal with very shortly so we're thinking about taking some time to just be together without doctors, or tests, or any of the things that surround those two. I'll give you a heads up if we disappear. Well, I better get cooking, supper won't make itself. Hugs and love. ~Pinky!

Last Call

Woo, the party is over. Another successful, fun and crazy birthday. I have tons of pictures to show you, including one with my husband wrapped up like a mummy, courtesy of moi. I had fun doing my makeup because I don't normally wear any. But with years of dance, ice skating and theater, putting on makeup is just something you don't forget. Pssst, guess what? I even rolled my hair!! I know! The birthday girl was completely surprised. She's never really had a big birthday bash so we wanted to make sure she had one. You can't hang around our group of friends and not have that kind of party. She seemed to have a really good time and went home with lots of presents and candy and cake. I'll post some more tomorrow, but for now, I have GOT to go wash this stuff off my face!

My love ~Pinky!

Lots to do today!

My, oh my, do I have a lot to get done today. We're throwing a birthday/Halloween party tonight for a friend. Why on a Wednesday? Because she's going to be out of town and it was the only day we could do it. But that means, I have to get my butt to the store, go hang decorations, pick up my daughter from school, run home and get both of us in costume, then go back out to my friends and surprise the birthday girl. WOO! That's a lot. Plus, I have to finish making her present and a spooky necklace for one of the girl's costumes. I also need to go to the grocery store, the post office and take a shower.

What do you think won't get done today?

To make things worse, I'm SUPER sleepy and it's all gloomy outside, so my bed wants me to come lay in it. I swear I can hear it calling me! I didn't sleep well last night, I was plagued with nightmares and an asshole cat that kept pawing at my face and knocking things over. At four in the morning. Not happy about that. She makes me want to beat her then she looks like this:

She knows how to use her cuteness to get her way. Being snuggly is her best weapon. I have dreams all the time, but these nightmares were particularly bad. I could still feel it when I woke up. Shudder. I don't like that at all. It's one thing to have bad dreams, but to feel them is another, it tends to linger. So, I'm sleepy because my rest was not well.

Last but not least, I scheduled my surgery today. I tried to change the date, but I had little to no control over that. So, Monday, November 6th, I'll be put under the knife for the 13th time. I have to be there at six in the morning so I doubt you guys will hear from me that day. Sucks that it's on that day because my hubby's birthday is on the 8th. I was terribly ill last year on his birthday and now I'll be recovering from surgery. I hate that more than I hate having another surgery.

Well, I guess I better get moving, all this stuff isn't going to get done on it's own. Wouldn't that be nice? Hope everyone has a good day and I'll be sure to take lots of pictures. I'm going to be a fairy and baby girl is going to be a witch. It's going to be interesting to see how I get around with GIANT fairy wings on. Hee, I'm already laughing at myself. HUGS and love! ~Pinky

OMG!!!

Look! LOOK!! Look at what the amazing Blurr sent me today!!

Isn't this the most beautiful flower arrangement you have ever seen?!? I almsot started crying on the delivery man. OH! Thank you so much! I wish I could give you a big, fat hug but this virtual one will have to do:

It's a UFO!!

Cynthia wrote a cool post about unfinished projects and it got me thinking about one. I started this in response to a post that Redneck Girl had written about beauty. She gets worried, like a lot of us, about our outer beauty. This necklace is in repsonse to that concern, that worry, that care. Let me know what you think. Evening!

It's Monday

And I'm doing much better today. Thank you for all the emails and I'm sorry if I didn't respond. It wasn't because I didn't get your message, I just had to step away for a little bit. I've been through this routine of surgery and unknowing so many times, I know it's best for me to deal with the emotional aspect first. Wallow in it for a day, then get it together and make an action plan. This one was a little harder to get past, but I'm working on it. It's a lot like the rainbow picture. You can't have a rainbow without some rain and some sun. I got to talk with a few of my blog friends and that did worlds of good. Thank you, you know who you are, for being so open and so honest and so wonderful. Pavel? We can go to McDonald's, but you play percussion and I play piano, so I think we're going to need a van. (grin)

I have to ship some things out today, put the finishing touches on a project and do something with this house. Me feeling crappy is hell on my house, nothing gets done. But it's time to get my bootay back in gear. I also have a new painting that I want to start on. I'm not sure how it is going to turn out but I have to try. I'm still new at this and sometimes the pictures in my head seem so much more eloquent that what ends up on paper or canvas. Still, I think it's something that will look well when I am done. And, no, I'm not selling it. (that was for Blurr and Brian, HA!)

I'm off to get my stuff done. Hugs to all of you and thank you for all your support and love. It's appreciated more than words on a blog page can express. I'll let you know when the surgery day will be because I will be off again for that. It's looking like sometime in the next two weeks. Anyhoo, if I get finished with all my stuff in time to take some pictures, I'll share. If not, then I'll update you tomorrow! My love ~Pinky!

10.20.2006

This picture just about sums up how I feel today. So, I am going to take the weekend off, collect myself and get ready for the things I have to do. As soon as I make the appointment, I will have to undergo surgery to assess the damage done by untreated endometriosis. That's the first step. Then I will know where to go from there. But I wasn't expecting to be told I had to have another surgery and a lot of the other things that were said just flat out knocked me on my ass. This will make my thirteenth surgery in fifteen years. I'm sick of surgery, doctors, nurses, diseases and a whole slew of things. That's why I'm taking the weekend, to gather my thoughts and prepare for the road ahead. Have a good one and my love to you all. ~Pinky

Hi

I didn't have a very good visit at the doctor. I've been crying a lot tonight but I wanted to thank all of you for being so supportive and loving. It's helped, believe me it has. Right now, I'm going to hug my daughter, hold on tight to my husband and try to get some sleep. G'night all.

I'm outta here!

Well folks, I'm about to take a shower and go to my doctor's appointment. I would be a big fat liar boo-boo head if I said I was ready to go. Even though I told my hubby I would go alone so he wouldn't miss work, he came home anyway and is taking me. I couldn't be happier.

I'm a little nervous and a little scared. I'm going to a new doctor and don't know quite what to expect. But I have some friends that go to see her, so I've got good referrals. I guess I'm just putting off my shower now. I better go and get ready no sense being late.

I don't know if I will update tonight or not but I do want to say thank you to all of you. Thanks for looking out for me and thanks for caring. Thank for your support and I will let you know how it went. My love to all of you. ~Pinky

Night Sky

This is what the sky looked like at my house about ten minutes ago. I had to share. Have a good evening, everyone!

Beauty

In all the world, there is but simple beauty to be found.
Just open your heart and feel what is in front of you.
Taste it in a lover's kiss,
Hear it in the sound of laughter,
Touch it with a simple caress,
And see it dance within a raindrop.
You cannot capture beauty,
For it is Beauty that captures you.

I'm not trying to ignore you

I wanted to write a decent blog today, but I was having dreams last night about beading, so I thought that's where I should put my focus first. I have three new pieces completed and three in the works. I haven't listed my finished ones because it was nasty weather wise here yesterday and I couldn't get a decent shot. Not to mention that my honey was here all day!!We piled up on the couch and watched Lucky Number Slevin. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Good movie and the best role I have seen Lucy Lui in, by far.

Last week, I went to Waverly Mansion in West Point, Mississippi. Me and my friend Tami originally went because it's supposed to be haunted and after watching a Ghost Hunters marathon, we were feeling bold. But when we got there, wowohwow, that place is amazing. It was built in like 1856 and there is so much of the ORIGINAL structure left it's just mind blowing. The last son of the original owner died in 1913 and the house remained totally empty for nearly fifty years. Fifty Years!! All of the furniture had been removed by family, but there was so much left that is just priceless. No pics inside, but here are some outside shots:

I have never been to a place that stood empty for so long that still had such wonderful treasures inside. The house is four stories and eight thousand swquare feet but it doesn't look like it. It was built like nothing else of it's time. You see that turret on the top? It's all windows and the house is made so that when the windows are open in the turret and downstairs, a draft is pulled through the house and it draws the hot air out. It's never been air conditioned and it's never needed it. It was down right cold they day we went.

ALL of the original plaster work was still there and in near perfect condition. There was not one section that had anything missing from it. I have never seen plaster work in such good condition or with such attention to detail. All the light fixtures, the gold plated window cornices, the GIANT French, hand gilded mirrors made just for the great hall, were still hanging where they were hung 150 years ago. In the men's study, the Waverly Novels, where the house got it's name, were still in the bookcase. Those alone would be worth thousands. I've been to a decent amount of Antebellum homes, but I've never been to a place like this before. I could go there time and time again and never tire from it.

In addition to all the wonderful things about this house, such as indoor gas lights, ice, closets, and over one thousand hand turned spindles (of which only three were broken. Can you believe that?!?) there is an absolute treasure that meets you as you walk to the house itself.

The Grand Magnolia:

I couldn't get all of it in the picture. I have never seen a magnolia tree so large in all my days. I've never even heard of one this big. This lovely old lady has been dated to be more than 300 years old. She is the oldest tree in Mississippi and stood 150 years before Waverly was even built. Can you imagine what this tree saw? What she heard? Through storms and war and devastation, she stood tall for all this time. I would have given anything to be able to crawl onto a branch, lay my head on the bark, and listen to the stories she could tell.

If anyone ever decides to come to Mississippi, I suggest going to see Waverly Mansion. It is a stunning piece of architecture in design and innovation. It boasts 20 acres of gardens and the oldest tree in the state. Plus, it really is haunted. :)

Taking the day off

My sweet hubby surprised me by taking the day off. He never does that! So, I'm spending the day with him, snuggling on the couch and just getting to be spoiled by him being around all day. I'll check back in with everyone later! Hugs!

THE WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

A husband was in big trouble when he forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife told him, "Tomorrow there better be something in the driveway for me that goes from zero to 200 in two seconds flat." The next morning the wife found a small package in the driveway. She opened itand found a brand new bathroom scale. Funeral arrangements for the husband have been set for this Saturday

My eyes no longer work

I stayed up WAAAYY too late watching the Law & Order SVU marathon. It feels like a hangover, too much television for one night. Blech. Miss 1999, I know you had to be up watching, too. Such an addictive show. But, I can't easily stay up until one or two in the morning and then get up at six thirty, so my eyes feel all poofy and not wanting to work. It could be that I'm still waiting on my tea, so I haven't had my juice of the morning.

Weekend recap: little princess had a stomach bug Friday. Oh, yeah. Not fun. So Saturday and Sunday meant laying on the couch a lot, reading for me, cartoons for her. She's doing much better today. Yesterday she was nearly 100 percent so she's going to school this morning. Other than that, not much went on. I have a cuff that I'm almost done with that's a little crazy, but I really like it. I've combined leather, painting, beading and cloth all into one piece. I know, but it looks cool. I'll take pictures when it's done.

That's it! I've got new pieces on the board and I'm working on some more Dewy Knickers T-shirts, which are in my store by the way. Hint, hint. Oh and, guys, thank you. You know what I'm talking about. ~looks side to side then snatches a quick hug~

Blue Light

It is often by the blue glow of the computer screen that I seek solace from my day. To laugh, to learn, to be somwhere other than here. Being with one's self is not always easy and many things are brought to scrutiny in the light. The childlike fear of posting a new piece, of asking opinions and hoping that they hold praise. I see my hands, see them clearly, with the scars and lines dug deep in places. How is it that with these hands I can create like I do? And why is it that I am my harshest critic, the first to damn, the first to cast aside? Perhaps because there is so much of me left in every piece and I'm afraid that you will see it and turn from me. My true name means Strength, but it doesn't mean that I am always strong. I get weary, as do you. I feel sadness, exhaustion, weight although I rarely let it show. I wonder why I don't entrust myself to all of you that have so clearly shown you care. Is it fear? Yes, that is the most likely of candidates. Although a despised emotion, I feel it creeping upon me and it makes me tired. Oh, so tired.

Many times I have been a Warrior. Often unwilling, I have been cast into battle and emerged either as a victor with a crown of glory, or as a survivor bearing scars that will never fade. I have literally stared death in the face and told it to move on, my work here is not complete and I will not travel on that final road with you. It was not my time, but I sometimes wonder that by turning death away, I slated myself for more battles. I have had many since that time and I get so tired of fighting. But I have no time to pause, to weep, to worry or to wonder, I have to prepare.

I'm not well but I keep it hidden from even those closest to me. I don't want to go to another doctor, to another test, to another place. I don't want to be poked and prodded, fussed over. But what choice do I have? Refuse to go and let the sickness grow? That's too cowardly for me, even when I lay in the bed and cry, I still know that I must face another war. I feel like I am standing in the Valley between Hope and Unease. I have laid my head upon the rich grass of hope, smelled the sweetness of the flowers and wallowed in the gentleness that resides there. The last time, I was too secure and when the call came, the Mountain of Unease hurled rocks upon me and I was not prepared for it. Where do I sit to collect myself? Do I rest upon Hope again only to have rocks thrown at me? Or do I wallow in the base of Unease becoming a woman of worry and doubt?

I don't know, I just don't know. So for now, I will rest in the Valley between the two, await the doctor's visit and make battle plans then. I don't want another score to settle within myself. I want one year to be free, just one year. I haven't had that in sixteen years and it wears on me. I am strong and I am a warrior, yet even a warrior gets tired. I will seek solace once again, in the blue light of the computer, and push aside my fears and open myself to you. I will take joy in your friendship and pull strength from your love. I will rest and when the time comes, I will show you the plan for battle, I will request your supprt and I can march forward knowing that I have it. Thank you for sitting a spell and hearing my story. My heart is lighter because of it.

Fresh Knickers Club!

Okay ladies, here it is! I modified a little from our discussions for two reasons. One, I am a jewelry designer people, not a clothier. Two, the first design I had looked crappy, so I changed it to something more wear-happy.

SO, without further ado, I present to you the first every Dewy Knickers Diva Shirt:

If you're craving better pictures, let me know I just got excited and had to post. I picked the baseball T because it looked better than a plain white. This shirt is an XL and is pretty true to size. Price will run at $15.00 per shirt with discounts if you get more than one. I can also make this for long sleeves!!

So, now that it has been revealed, let a sistah know whacha think!

Knickers

Hello fellow Fresh Knickers Ladies! I just wanted to let you all know that I am working on the shirts, but I didn't have enough letters for everything. After I get the prototype up, email Dewey and let her know what you think, then we can go from there.

I'm really excited about doing this! It's going to be fun and before you know it there will be Knicker Flashing all over the world! Hugs to all of you!!

Busy, Busy

I've been busier today than I thought I would be, so I haven't had time to post. I have a few things that I want to talk about, but I guess it will have to wait till another time. In the meantime, here is a new pair of earrings:

My cat, Roswell, making it difficult to type:

And my shoes. Why? Because I think they look cool.

I stumbled upon this livejournal blog and you really should go see her art. Here's an idea of how amazing she is:

Eye Tricks

Pavel had one of these illusion pics on his site the other day and it reminded me of two I posted nearly a year ago. So, I thought I would drag them back out and show them again. I love these things!!

My Aura Color

VIOLETS

Violets are the inspirational visionaries, leaders and teachers who are here to help save the planet. Most Violets feel drawn to educate the masses, to inspire higher ideals, to improve the quality of life on the planet, or to help save people, animals and the environment.

All Violets have an inner sense that they are here to do something important, that their destiny is greater than that of the average person. Most Violets have felt this way since childhood. As children, many Violets imagined becoming famous, or traveling the planet, possibly joining humanitarian causes such the Peace Corp. Many of these charismatic personalities take on roles as leaders and teachers, while other Violets prefer to reach people through music, film or other art form.

Because this era is currently the "Violet Age," any Violets who are not accomplishing what they came here to do are experiencing an inner "push" - even an inner "earthquake." Inner forces seem to be shaking them up and pushing them to move into action, to fulfill their life purpose. Violets know they are here to do something significant. However, they aren't always sure what that something is or how to accomplish it.

Many Violets were taught as children that their dreams and aspirations were unrealistic, so they have lost touch with their original visions. It's important for Violets to reconnect with their life purpose and vision, and to take action. Otherwise they will always feel unfulfilled. They will always sense something is missing from their lives. Violets need to learn to slow down long enough to listen to their inner voice and to connect with their higher vision.

The Party!!!!!

It's over!! WOO! I wanted to post last night, but I was so exhausted my eyes were going in two different directions. We had about twelve kids in all, which is a pretty good bunch. Add in parents and other relatives, I think there were almost 30 people there. That's a lot of folks!

We had a ton of fun! I have this knack for being able to whip kids into a near frenzy and then steering that energy into some sort of game. We played Pin the Star on the Record, which is just a variation on the donkey version, and Record Toss. What's that you ask? Easy! I give each kid a record, tell them they get to throw things in the house, they all freak out, then we throw records at an ottoman and try to make it land in the center. They didn't care if they won or not, they got to throw stuff in the house! Cake, ice cream, balloons everywhere, man you couldn't beat it. Here are the pictures, I'll let them tell some of the story:

I love the last picture. I didn't let her see it until they day before the party and I made her close her eyes. I think she was just a tad bit surprised. :) But, you have to admit, I transformed the room quite a bit! It was a ton of work, but I think it turned out super well.

We only had one incident. Pretty good, I think, but still an incident. A little boy decided to eat a mushroom out of the yard. He's only one! But, he was okay, I called his mom last night to make sure. Whew! Everyone behaved and acted nice with each other and that was very important. I wanted her to have a good day and it seems she did.

I SO went to bed at 8:30 last night. Good party, lots of presents, happy baby girl, it was grand. But I'm glad it's only once a year!
