A Request...

Yesterday, TamiD's husband lost his job, one that he's been at for over three years and is highly skilled at. Remember my beautiful kitchen cabinets? Yeah, her husband did that. Obviously, this came as a shock for them. They have a new home and a lovely seven year old daughter and losing his job could not have come at a worse time.

As some of you know, TamiD has an Etsy shop, too, and she sells prints from photographs that she has taken in our part of the state. She also has some gorgeous hand painted ceramics in her shop. Uungh...

I don't feel so well. All my family came back home yesterday and I think they gave me germs! YUCK! I slept a lot this afternoon and we have a sorta busy week ahead.

Hubby's grandmother passed away yesterday at the ripe old age of 101! Yes, I said 101! Everyone is okay with this as she has been sick for quite some time and living in a home. But there are arrangements to be made and things to be taken care of, so it's still a lot. I worry the most about my father in law. He's gone to see her twice a day, every day for seventeen years. I know he will feel her loss the most so please keep him, and the family, in your thoughts.

We bid you farewell Grandma C and know that you are finally at rest. You've finally gone home...

Girls Night Out

Well hubby is out of town for the weekend, so Baby Pinky and I had a girls night! We rented movies, ordered Chinese food and it was great. She had a slumber party in my room and brought all her babies!! Me, her and the cat all piled up, it was great. :)

But now I've got to get her ready to go to her dad's house and mine will be empty. I've been wanting some "me" time, but not a whole weekend. I get a little spooked when I'm in this house all alone. I do have a lovely bottle of wine that I can open, watch The Notebook and have a quiet night to myself. We'll see, we'll see... ~Pinky!

This piece was inspired by Amber's Thankful Thursday post yesterday. She was talking about how she is thankful for the internet because of all the places and people that it has opened up to her. I agree and I got to really thinking about what she wrote and I came up with this piece in response to that.

We are a Tapestry of people, cultures and worlds that have been brought together over a cable, a frequency or a wire that has blurred borders nearly beyond what the mind can comprehend. We talk, laugh, cry and interact everyday with people that we may have never seen or spoken to before. But they are friends, loved ones and people that we really care about. It's a meshing of lives that is coming together to make the most beautiful piece of living art.

That is why I created this piece. It's filled with all different kinds of beads in a myriad of colors. It's one of a kind, just like each of us. Yet it is blended together to make a stunning display of color and charisma. We are the Tapestry of this world, smile and be thankful you're a part of it.

What up, yo?

We're not working on house #2 today, so I feel like a kid playing hooky from school!! Granted, I went over there for about an hour, but I wasn't in the mood to get crazy and work all day. Plus, it kind of makes me itchy being in there now. We pulled the carpet out of the big room on Tuesday and OMG, it was so freaking nasty!! BLECH!! We wore gloves and masks and I had on long sleeves, and we both still felt yucky after that. So, no house for me today!! Yippee!!

In other non-related news, all three of us had a Happy Valentines Day! Hubby bought Cinderella 3 for Baby Pinky, so you know she was cool. And I got the Hallmark tiger that sounds all French and sassy. He's really cute and sounds a lot like hubby when he's being sassy. ;) I also got a nice bottle of red wine, yummy. Hubby got a big bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (his fav) and I made red beans and rice with sausage and Texas toast garlic bread, all for him!! Baby Pinky and I had something else!! So he got to eat his favorite thing and nearly explode from eating a meal for three.

Well, I guess since I have a free day, I'm going to go work on some jewelry! OH! I'm submitting 2 pieces to a silent auction that's going to be happening in April. When I get the pieces done, I'll let you know. And, I'm doing another beading challenge. Remember the one last fall? I hope that everyone had a great weekend! I sold two pieces, so that's good!! Today, TamiD and I start at Curves for our first step to getting fit! WOOO!! Okay, not woo. I'm not as excited as I think I should be, but maybe that will pass. Like I said before, I'm not motivated to do this and I think I look fine!! Dammit. Happy Birthday, Gorjus

Here it is, another year. How did it go by so quickly? How did they all go by quickly? It seems that just the other day you were convincing me to eat mud pies and I happily obliged. Since we lived in an area with no kids, it was just you and I. Endless days filled with adventure and imagination. Walking to and from school, riding bikes, playing in the storm drains, and eating pecans and muscadines until we were ill. But, that has been a long time ago, even though it doesn't feel like it.

You're an attorney and sometimes that just weirds me out. I mean, it's not like I don't think it's right for you, but it just seems so grown up. Heh. I'm just proud of you and what you have become. You have come a long way from being someone I got into fist fights over, even though you know I'd do it all again.

What I'm trying to say here is that I love you, all of you. All the facets, the good parts and the flaws. You're my big brother and I don't think that I could have created a better one. You blessed me with stories, imaginary worlds and belief in myself and what I could do. You argued with me to make me think, not to piss me off. You gave me books that required me to have a dictionary close at hand. You gave me music, oh, the music that you gave me. You gave me a persona that lives with me today. You gave me all these things and so much more and I am a better woman for it.

Take one man, add thirty-two years and what do you get? Love, Law, and Rock-n-Roll.

A Post I Have Been Putting Off

Mainly because it's a touchy subject, but it just keeps popping up into my brain! So I guess that means I need to address it even if I don't really want to. Fine. I have to lose weight. At least 30 pounds. According to the CDC's body mass index calculator, I am obese. That little fact alone could make me lay in the bed and cry for a few hours, then beat myself up every time I walk by a mirror. IF, I let it. But I try really hard not to, what can I say? Some days are better than others.

The truth is, I don't really think I look bad. I know I don't look like I did a few years ago, but who the hell does? (no man answer that question!) What I mean is that I have clothes that I look good in, that make me feel sexy. I don't feel obese, sure I have some extra padding, but not obese. I have spent half of my life being very active so I always weighed more than everybody thought because of muscle mass. Well, I don't have as much muscle, but I have as much mass. heh. I really don't care about losing the weight, but I don't have much of a choice.

Not much of a choice? How's that?? Easy, it's called my knees. After all my knee surgeries, I had a lot of restrictions put on me. Some of them I listened to, some of them I didn't. But there is one that I can't get away from or my knees let me know that I've done something wrong and that's gain weight. I'm not supposed to weigh over 155, that's my max, that's what my knees can handle without causing more damage and pretty constant pain. I haven't weighed that in quite a few years.

So how do you go about losing weight when you aren't motivated to do so but medically have to get it done? No, really I'm asking a question here, I don't know. I'm okay with the way I look. But, I'm not okay with the fact that my knees hurt me all the time. ALL the time. Stairs? I don't even want to think about it. If anyone has any input, please let me know. I need ideas and I need help because if I keep carrying this weight, it's really going to damage my knees. I don't know about some of you, but I like being able to walk on my own.
